Consumers Choice is an independent introduction service.
We provide a free service to consumers, helping people experiencing financial difficulties connect with relevant third-party organisations.
When you contact us, we’ll ask some straightforward questions to understand the general nature of your circumstances.
You don’t need to know which solution you’re looking for, understand financial terminology or have every figure in front of you.
Where appropriate, we’ll use the information you provide to introduce you to a relevant third-party provider that can assess your circumstances further.
Our Role

Consumers Choice acts as an introducer only.
Consumers Choice is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and does not provide financial advice, debt advice, debt counselling or legal advice.
We do not:
- Recommend a particular debt solution
- Determine which debt solution is suitable for you
- Provide regulated financial or debt advice
- Approve applications or debt solutions
- Guarantee eligibility or acceptance
- Guarantee any particular financial outcome
Any assessment, advice or recommendation concerning a debt solution is provided by the relevant appropriately authorised or licensed third-party provider.
This clear separation is particularly important under the FCA’s current lead-generator requirements.
What Could a Provider Discuss With You?
Following an introduction, an appropriately authorised or licensed third-party provider may assess your individual circumstances and explain the options that could be available.
Depending on your circumstances, location and eligibility, these could potentially include:
- Debt Management Plans (DMPs)
- Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs)
- Debt Relief Orders (DROs)
- Bankruptcy
- Protected Trust Deeds, where applicable
- Full and final settlements
- Other ways of dealing with your debts
Not every option will be available or suitable for everyone.
The relevant provider is responsible for explaining any available options and their advantages, disadvantages, costs and potential consequences.

This means we have a financial interest in making an introduction.
Some services or debt solutions subsequently provided by a third party may involve fees. Where applicable, the provider should explain these to you before you decide whether to proceed.
You are under no obligation to proceed simply because Consumers Choice has introduced you to a provider.
That explicit disclosure is worth retaining because the FCA rules require lead generators to make their financial interest in passing a lead clear.

We are not associated with, endorsed by or part of the UK Government, a local authority or a charity.
